If you attended a festival this summer, it’s almost certain that you’ve heard this track: 'What’s A Girl To Do' by Luvstruck. It became one of the biggest hits of the year. We spoke with the producer behind the amazing remix, Luvstruck.
Which DJ or producer is the biggest inspiration for your music?
The Dj who first got me into dance music was Judge Jules, having listened to him on Radio 1 back in the late 90's. I would also have to mention Paul Masterson production wise, the songs he did with Jules and under his own aliases are the best.
How would you describe your style?
I can create music in a variety of styles, but my sound is predominantly melodic, uplifting, and perfect for a party atmosphere. I want people to leave my shows saying they had an amazing time and loved the music I played, which is mostly my own original tracks.
What is your favorite track that you’ve produced?
I would say 'What's A Girl To Do'—it was so easy how it came together. The track was finished in 3 hours, and Bas's great melody didn't need much added to it. I just wanted to create a version for my own sets because I love the original so much.
Favorite venue or festival you’ve ever played at?
I have played some great venues, but I would have to say New World Glasgow, which was previously the old Arches. The atmosphere was insane—a lot of people didn’t know who I was when I played that gig, and people have been asking me when I’m coming back to Scotland. I have Trance in the Woods and Tidy Weekender coming up this year, which will be amazing. I hope I can get the chance to play in other parts of the world soon.
How did you get in touch with Fatima Yamaha (Bas Bron) to release your remix of “What’s A Girl To Do,” and what did he think of the track?
It's a long story, but I initially sent the edit to Jules, who was supporting it, and he said I should try Bas, as Jules loved it. I never heard anything when I tried to reach out to Bas, so I sent Patrick Topping the edit along with some other demos, and he played it at Trick Tenerife, where it exploded on TikTok. I had numerous labels wanting to sign it, and in the end, I signed it with Spinnin' / Crash Your Sound—and the rest is history. I hope Bas likes what I've done with it, and I hope to meet him one day—it would be amazing.
Thanks for your time, Craig!
